Book charity of the month- Books for Zambia

Hi! This post is going to be a feature, and every month I will write about a book related charity that I feel deserves support. You can use this post to find an organisation to support or even just to educate yourself. Here is the text from its front page...

Aid that works

Founded in 2003, Books for Zambia aims and strives to provide the only library in  Luanshya, Zambia with books  and amenities to promote a safe and free educational environment for the community, with emphasis on early childhood, Primary and  Secondary school education
Kelvin Nkole (middle) hands over books to Librarian, Alwisho Kasongo(right) and Luanshya Director of Housing Maybin Mulenga. Mr. Nkole was representing Mott McDonald, UK based company that donated the books to the library.

Our Goal

Expand book distribution to local schools in an initiative called, ‘Classroom Library,’ where students can manage and maintain their own in-house libraries
As you can see, they do a lot to help children and to introduce them to the world of books. Here are some images from their main project, the Helen Kaunda Memorial Library, mostly with regards to the opening and the children who benefit from it...

  3. You're caption "a lovely blog about books " says it all and is spot on. A book should never be discarted but pasted on.
