PRIVATE PEACEFUL-

Private Peaceful
Hey! Sorry I haven't posted for a while, but school hates children. *sobs quietly*
Anyway, you should read this book. It was recommended to me by a stranger, and I have already read it, so I thought that I should post about it. Well, here's some stuff about it, from my friend. She's called "GOOGLE"
;-)

Private Peaceful-

Front Cover
Now a major movie, Private Peaceful is the stunning classic novel of love and war from Michael Morpurgo, beloved and bestselling author of War Horse
Told in the voice of Private Tommo Peaceful, the story follows twenty-four hours at the front, and captures his memories of his family and his village life – by no means as tranquil as it appeared.
Full of vivid detail and engrossing atmosphere, leading to a dramatic and moving conclusion, Private Peaceful is both a compelling love story and a deeply moving account of the First World War.

Reviews-
- A bookclub read which I really enjoyed. Set against the backdrop of World War One, the story follows brothers Charlie and Tommo as they grow up and enlist in Britain's army to fight in the war. Each chapter begins sometime during a long night as Tommo recalls all the adventures and trials he and his family endured together. This book is aimed at 10-14 year olds however adults seem to really enjoy it and it is a great discussion book.

Private peaceful is about a 16 year old British boy named Thomas peaceful who is spending his night reflecting back to all of his childhood memories that he shared with his two brothers charlie Peaceful, Big Joe, and the love of his life Molly. He spends his night reflecting because early in the morning (6:00 A.M.) his brother Charlie will be executed for "cowardice" actions on the battlefield. To me, it appears that back during World War 1, the British ARMY's rules were very harsh when it came to fleeing the battle. Such actions were to be punished by death.
I thought this was an outstanding book and though I haven't ever read many historical fictions, this one has won me over. One reason I really like this book is because the author describes each character's feelings and emotions very thoroughly so you understand exactly how they feel about something. There are many sad moments and tragedies throughout the whole story, some more so than others. However, through reading this book, i have gained much knowledge about World War 1 and how it was fought. Another reason I favor this book is because it doesn't "sugar-coat" anything which i absolutely love. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes historical fiction, and those who like love being intertwined with a story.

Some other books by Michael Morpurgo-
War Horse
The Butterfly Lion
Dear Olly
Cool!
